George, Itoje & Borthwick react to New Zealand loss

England captain Jamie George, Maro Itoje and head coach Steve Borthwick react to England's narrow loss to New Zealand in Dunedin.

Jamie George

"Incredibly proud of how we went out and attack the game, not a lot of teams come to New Zealand and do that, I think it shows a lot of growth with this team. There's definitely areas to work on - scrum one, breakdown another but we will do a lot of honest work this week and make sure we go to Eden Park next week fully prepared.

"There is a huge amount of pride every time you put on this jersey, I said we wanted to make people back home proud and I think we did that with our effort tonight - it was a game of fine margins but we will learn, grow and get better.

"I'm incredibly happy for Fin Baxter, what a great debut he had and I'm very proud of him. He's going to have to step up next week and I know he is fully ready to do that. Massive shout out to Ollie Sleightholme also coming on for his debut.

"We have to learn fast, we will make sure we do that. It's a really exciting week for us."

Maro Itoje

"Our scrum probably wasn't good enough in the second half, we gave the ball away too easily and we didn't exit as well as we wanted but it was a good effort - we just need to be better.

"We wanted to raise the intensity and I think we did that at the start of the second half but we let a few inaccuracies slip into our game and we allowed them to get back into it.

"We know the All Blacks are a good team, they play good rugby, they are a physical team so it wasn't anything they did that was surprising they just did it very well.

"Every game is an experience, every game is something to build from and learn from and we were two points from winning that game - if a result happened in the last phase of the game it could have gone the other way, but it is what it is, we will lick our wounds and get better. This will be a valuable lesson for us."

Steve Borthwick

"Fine margins - two tries a piece - there wasn't much in that at all. That second half was a real arm wrestle. Credit to New Zealand, they took their opportunities and got over the line in the end. We'll debrief it and see how we move forward."
