Sadia Kabeya inspires the next generation

Sadia Kabeya, England and Lough Lightning star, visited Etwall Primary school in Derby to be interviewed by two ten-year-old competition winners.

The two winners, Hannah and Annabel, won a Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire (NLD) RFU competition to interview the Red Roses player. Kabeya was interviewed by the girls before giving a talk to the entire year group.

The competition was part of a wider initiative to increase engagement with rugby at schools, something that Kabeya knows the importance of. Her own teacher was Bryony Cleall, who later became her England teammate.

Kabeya hopes that her visit to Etwall School will inspire the next generation of girls to play rugby in the same way she was influenced by Cleall.

Following Kabeya’s visit to Etwall, Hannah and Annabel said:

“I don’t even know how to explain today, words can’t describe how magical it was. Being able to speak to an England International was really interesting.

“I love rugby because it is a team sport, and everyone works together. I have never known a sport could make me so high before, and I really love rugby! I have been able to learn some new skills through rugby.”
