England U18 Men team to play Ireland U18

England U18 Men head coach Jonathan Pendlebury has named his side to play Ireland U18 on Sunday.

England’s match against Ireland comes following a win over Italy in the second round of the Six Nations Festival on Saturday. Ben Redshaw captains the side against the home team as he shifts from full back to the centres, joined in the midfield by Charlie Myall.

  • Kick off on 16 April (16:30)
  • Final round of Festival in Dublin

Kepueli Tuipulotu retains his starting spot in the number two jersey and will pack down between the two props, Louie Trevett and Billy Sela. Behind them in the second row is Junior Kpoku and Oscar Beckerleg.

Henry Pollock wears the number 7 shirt with Reuben Logan packing on the other side of the scrum, which shifts Bath’s George Timmins to No. 8. Scrum half Archie McParland partners Josh Bellamy in the halves.

After scoring two tries in as many games, Jack Bracken returns to one starting wing spot, while Ned McCormack claims the other and Conor Byrne will wear the 15 shirt. Harry Clarke, Isaac Keller, Tye Raymont, Will Owen, Jack Lightbown, Lucas Friday, Tom Threlfall, Toby Baker, Ollie Davies and Charlie Griffin are on an extended bench.

Pendlebury said: “We were pleased with the win against Italy, but the players also realise they have more in the tank, and have pushed themselves to increasingly higher standards through their preparation this week. The festival format allows a lot of time for reviews and previews to support their learning.

“We expect Ireland to come out firing tomorrow; they’re closing out their home tournament. For the players that were involved in the South Africa tour they have experience of that. This is a fantastic opportunity for the lads to develop in such an environment.”
